Piazza San Marco is the most famous square in Venice, the only one called “piazza” instead of “campo” and a common background for couple photo portraits in Venice.
During my wedding, engagement and honeymoon photo services in Venice I like to use squares as backgrounds for my couple photo portraits.
As a matter of fact, squares in Venice are not called “piazza” (Italian for squares). Except for two of them (Piazzale Roma and Piazza San Marco), they are called “campi” which literary means “fields” since they used to be meadows vegetable gardens. Alleys of Venice: ancient stories and professions and background for photo shootings

Unlike most cities all over the world, Venice only has one street (Strada in Italian): the so called “Strada Nuova” in the Cannaregio district. It was once a channel and was transformed into a road in the 19th century by filling it with earth. Its length and width are something exceptional in Venice.
