Alleys of Venice: ancient stories and professions and background for photo shootings

Unlike most cities all over the world, Venice only has one street (Strada in Italian): the so called “Strada Nuova” in the Cannaregio district. It was once a channel and was transformed into a road in the 19th century by filling it with earth. Its length and width are something exceptional in Venice. Silhouette photographs for couple portraits: shooting the shapes of love

When I am hired to shoot couple portraits during engagement, wedding or honeymoon photo services, I often use the silhouette technique. By calibrating shadows and lights one can get photographs focused on the bodies’ edges, leaving aside the color of the hair, the facial expressions, the details of the outfit and, in some cases, even the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Bridges in Venice: with or without love padlocks?

A young Russian couple lately hired me as their wedding photographer. Once the Orthodox ceremony was over, I shot some photographs of the couple walking in Venice and locking a padlock on a bridge.

A recent trend all over Europe has couples affixing padlocks on bridges as a symbol for their ever-lasting love. In Italy this habit was influenced by Federico Moccia’s novel “I want you” which has two young lovers fixing a padlock on the Milvio Bridge in Rome and throwing the key in the Tiber.
