Engagement session: capturing the day after

A photo session the day after an engagement captures the couple’s serene happiness, full of hope and confident love.

Working as a professional engagement photographer, I am often hired to capture the moment the would-be husband propose to the lady and her reaction. Lately I was  asked to photograph a ‘just-engaged’ couple: the man choose a private moment of their holiday in Venice to deliver his proposal and reserved an engagement photo portrait on the day after.

I tried my best to capture the couple’s harmony and feelings while they were carelessly walking in the streets of Venice

High-quality couple photographs could work as souvenirs of a special time and as postcards to tell relatives and friends about their resolution.

The couple was eager to explore Venice’s everyday life: they visited wine bars, a bookshops and took a rest for an ice-cream.

Instead of the common thrill, coupe de théâtre, tears and cries, I captured the relaxed happiness of a couple filled with deep trust for each other and nice expectations.  All their gestures and expressions were imbued with peaceful harmony..the hallmark of self-confident love!

I took some romantic photo portraits of the couple with the sunset on the lagoon in the background.

We met at Hotel Gritti and started with some photographs on the terrace facing Grand Canal. We walked along alleys, squares and bridges. They were curious enough the explore bookshops and wine bars, enjoyed an Italian ice-cream, rested for a while and watched the sunset on the Venetian lagoon. As the sky was getting darker we completed our couple photo session with a few more romantic portraits in San Marco Square with the street lights turning on one by one…

On our way back to the hotel, we stopped in Piazza San Marco to make a few more romantic photographs with the sky turning dark little by little…
